Pitch planning

The title of our film will be called Sheeps Riot

The circumstances of  Dugan's killing results in the public protests in Tottenham where it all started, rapidly shifting to London where 3 boys; Raheem, Vince and Noah introduce themselves to both disruption and corruption. Later on bringing their 'Boys' to cause chaos with them resulting in a chain of mishap. Further along the line with the tragic lose of a friends death they realize it isn't worth it.

The first 30 seconds of the opening will consist of a voice over about his death and what it has caused with images of newspapers during the riot period. The second 30 seconds will consist of a low angled shot of boy to his friends house in an estate however there will be match cuts of him walking.  They go to meet their friend to go to a near by shot where the last seen will be the 3 boys looking at the shop.

Most of the filming will be in hackney where there are rough estates however there will be scenes inside a house to show the intimacy and relationship between the characters. These shots show the location...

Props will include a game console and objects which are conventional in teen films such as a poster of a sex icon and video games. These are the props which will be used...

costumes will include simple jeans t-shirt and parka jacket and gloves. This demonstrates our costumes….

Risk Assessment

When filming a risk assessment is essential to ensure that if an accident were to occur you do the best you can you to prevent it or to keep it under control.

Within the areas we will be filming in the hazards include...

Cables
As the story line includes the boys playing Xbox there will be wires and cables on the floor. This can lead to someone tripping which can cause an injury. To prevent this we need to be extra vigilant and careful but not to get in the way when filming.

Electricity
When filming in the room there will be electricity plugs all around and probably objects plugged in them this can lead to someone getting electrocuted and hurt. However to prevent this we need to make sure all appliances are off when filming and to stay quite far from them.

Roads
Ismail will be running near the roads and probably across one with a laptop. we have to make sure they are careful not to drop the laptop and to be careful Ismail does not fall.

As a result to this we have to be extra careful and vigilant.

Other factors include bad weather which means we will have to check the weather constantly to see any changes as someone might slip or it wont be safe to film. Also we have to prevent the camera and all the equipment from getting wet or damaged. One other thing is that the camera could get stolen, to prevent this from taking place we can keep an watchful eye of the camera when filming and keep it in a safe place to prevent damage. Also the camera dying out. We need to make sure that the camera is fully charged and ready to go on the day as if not it might slow us down.

Framework Tutorial

In film making, shot compositions, sizes and angles enhance how to tell your story. Framing plays a vital role in exploring the varying meanings implications and emotions of a scene. Each scene can be made up of different angles and movements it comes across as more enganging. Within the lesson Mickey's Tutorial on framing tips were useful and will benefit me and my group when filming our 2 minute opening sequence.

The way you set up a frame is crucial when filming. It has to planned carefully so that all the action happens within the frame, the background is interesting but has relevance to what is happening. How you film and the perspective its coming from makes it more engaging for the viewer to watch. The more shot angles, movement and shot types used, the more effective and interesting it will be as it shows peoples emotions and things for the actors perspective to feel sympathy with them. From Mickey's tutorial i learnt few things that would benefit me and my group when filming our opening.

Tips that will benefit me when filming for real

1. Film at eye level: Filming at eye level to the actor is a good thing do for example if the actor/actress is sitting down, you should bring the camera down to their level, allow there not to be so much space above their head as it'll make you lose focus of what happening. 
2. Close ups and mid close ups: The types of shots shows the emotions of the actors and actress, it usually creates the tension and quicken the pace. This will be useful when creating the opening with my teen film as it sets the pace of which the film would go in if we was actual creating the whole film. 
3. Don't zoom or don't move the camera a lot: Zooming or moving the camera often while filming  makes what your filming look amateur and shows your inexperience. 
4. Plenty of cutaways: Cut away is good when filming as it allows you edit more efficiently. and make my groups's work more interesting. 
5. No space above the head: When filming above the head makes it look very tacky and will the audience lose focus on the action. 
6. The Thirds Rule: The thirds rule is useful when filming it's for when your positioning the characters in the fame so that everything works. 

What is the Thirds Rule?

The rule of thirds is a "rule of thumb" or guideline which applies to the process of composing visual images such as designs, films,paintings, and photographs. The guideline proposes that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines, and that important com-positional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections.

Camera, Shots and movements:

While filming there are certain law or rules that will improve your filming and shots. These rules include the angle that the camera is at, where the subject is on the screen , if the shot is medium,long or a close up. By applying technique to our filiming it will make our work look more professional and less amature. This basic rules also allow us to branch out and develop simple shots into a more complex form of cinematography. These rules also allow us  to interepret the sort of feeling we want our audience to recieve.

 

Rules of filming:

 

1. Vary your shots: by using mid shots and long shots and varying the shots it makes our movie look a lot more professional. Using this technique also creates different emotions with an audience, for example a close up an create sympathy and make a character likeable. Close ups are also the most memorable scenes in a movie. This is also a good way to highlight the main character in our teen movie, by giving the character more time on screen it makes them more important then others.

 

 

2. Film at eye level: By going down to the level of the character it allows the space above their head to be cut and avoids the problem of having too much space above their heads. This is a problem because it attracts the viewers attention to something behind them. It may also give other messages to the audience, such as, they should be paying attention to something happening in the background or there is something happening behind them, or that the character isnt as important. Therefore by having little space above the characters head it allows us to follow the story, also helps the film look professional.

 

 

3. Do Not Zoom: Avoid zooming. Is difficult to keep the camera focued whilst zooming. Zooming in a movie can also make it seem tacky or amature. Instead of zooming in one shot, create a match cut and simply move from a Long shot to a Mid shot to a Mid close up. This method of zooming into an object is better then directly zooming. By using the other method it can make the movie look a lot more professional.

4. Cutaways: cutaways simply means when the shot cuts from one person to and object of a scene that is happeing else where in the area. For example if two people are talking about going to the prom, the shot would cut away to a shot of the poster for the prom. When used correctly this can be an effective way to open up the story but also can be a good way to inlcude some interesting shots that create better cinematography.

 

5. Walking out of the shot: By allowing the character to walk out of the shot it lets you move onto a completely different scene without carrying on with them. Its a perfect way to transport the audience to a different situation without questioning the wereabouts of the characters you moved on from. Some cutaways are very effective and make your work look a lot more professional if used correctly.

 

 6. The Thrids Rule: This rule is used when learning where to position your object in the shot. The thirds rule is simply a grid that separates the shot into 6 different squares. The rule says that when ever we are filming someone or something they must be in the center of where the lines meet. This is the professional way of positioning your characters on the screen.
