However personally I have so many favorite dance films however my top 10 would have to be ...
- Save The Last Dance (2001)
- Step Up (2006)
- Take The Lead (2006)
- Make It Happen (2008)
- Fame (2009)
- Dirty Dancing (1987)

- Street Dance (2010)
- Honey (2003)
- Bring It On (2000)
Dance films allow you to join in with the experience and joyfulness of the movie. Its not just a film where you have your good times and bed times... its more than that. Dance films have a way of expressing the characters that other films do not. Some dance films not only do they make you want to jump from your softer and dance but are funny such as the dance flick.
When it comes to openings they are not so different to any other genre for example below are two opening scenes. Take the lead and Step Up. They have similar story lines, about the Fortunate and unfortunate coming together.
The music within both are very similar fusing both classical with hip pop. The use of cross cutting shows the actors in their environment and the difference between the both but the activities shown are similar. Compared to other genres the use of the conventional title sequence is till shown within the opening scene. This could be a perfect example for my teen film if doing an urban contemporary drama as it not just about a bunch of teenagers but shows the issues within society. Within two minutes or slightly more of watching these two openings we automatically see what the story line is about through mis-en-scene, sound, costume and cinematography. This is a brilliant example of what I should be aiming for when doing my opening.
