A teen movie a genre which is targeted at teenagers & young adults, the plot is based upon the interests of teenagers such as love, Family, relationships and allienation. There are some teen movies that appeal to a male audience and some that appeal to girls however most appeal to both.
Within different types of Teen films including Love and Basketball, Grease and Rebel Without A Cause have recurring themes and topics for example ; love, violence and sorrow. These recurring themes and topics are the conventional topics and themes within teen movies.

Each have their own convention and sterotype. sterotypes differ between teen films depending on its context however most follow the comventional views of characters. Cheerleaders are normally part of the popular clique, usually dating the jock and the nerds are ignored and not even glimpse at.
